Van J. Herrero, age 61, of Waukegan
Van J. Herrero III, 61, of Waukegan, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan. He was born Jan. 30, 1949 in Chicago. He was a member of St. Anastasia Parish, his many interests included, astrology, geneology, and marathon running, he was also a pet lover. He graduated from I.T.T. and John Marshal Law School with honors. He was an Assistant Lake County State's Attorney for 15 years. Van is survived by his wife, Toni, nee Kenik; his father, Van J. Herrero II, of Mayslake Village, IL; his siblings, Suze (Dennis) Elder of Bolling Brook, IL, Cathy (Hector) Baez of Romeoville, IL, Margaret Ann (Michael) Dawson of Cicero, IL, Bill Herrero of Texas and Paul (Denise) Herrero of Romeoville, IL; his sister-in-law, Teresa Rhode of Colorado; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Frances Herrero and brother Tom Herrero. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan. Friends may call at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan on Monday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Immediately following Mass a luncheon will be held at The Brick, 30 N.
