Michael Pelling

Michael passed away suddenly on December 31, 2023 at the age of 68. He was a loving and caring person and will be missed dearly by many. Michael was a loving son of Robert (Norma) and the late Patricia Pelling, beloved brother of Patrick (Susan) Pelling, Daniel (Cathleen) Pelling, Thomas (Sara) Pelling, the late Catherine (Jeff) Woodson, Maria (J.C.) Lippert, Peter Kerr, dear uncle of Patricia (Joe) Bellantonio, Bridget (Geoff) Wilson, Anthony (Sarah) Haynes, Robert (Jacqueline) Pelling, Stephanie Pelling, Shane Pelling, Erin Moore, Robin (Jason) Stawkey, Haley (Isaac) O’Pry, Jennifer Logan, Warren Kuhlman, Emily (Bill) Caldwell , Elisa Klewinski, Daniella Kerr, Elizabeth Kerr and fond great uncle of Brandon, Nicole, Kylie, Aiden, Brayden, Austin, Sophia, Ethan, Kyleena-Rose, Ava, Lilith, Madison, Caleb, Aurora and Isiah.

 

Beside his love for family, Michael’s main passion was to serve and support the Moose Organization which includes Mooseheart (The City of Children). He held several positions at the local, state and international level within the Moose Organization. Michael worked as a Chief Operating Engineer (Local 399) in Chicago from 1978 until his retirement in April 2022. He was also a BASSET trainer at Illinois Liquor Commission. He kept busy during retirement developing a strong eBay following in addition to his love for puzzles, scrabble, word games and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Avenue, Darien. A private family interment will take place on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
