Lauren Elizabeth Slavik, age 42
Lauren Elizabeth Slavik, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away from cancer on August 22, 2024 at the age of 42. Born on September 26, 1981, Lauren brought joy and light into the lives of everyone she encountered.

Lauren was known for her infectious smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She is survived by her loving family: parents David and Cookie Slavik of Naperville IL, brother Michael (Christina) Slavik and nephews Jackson, Broderick, and William Slavik of Hinsdale IL. The bonds they shared were unbreakable and they will forever cherish the memories of laughter, love, and support that defined their time together.

Lauren was employed by Astrix Inc. as a contract project manager assigned to various projects being conducted by AbbVie. She was a valued member of her work teams and cared deeply for her associates and colleagues at both Astrix and AbbVie. Earlier in her career, Lauren worked tirelessly on the merger of the North Shore Veterans Administration Hospital and the Great Lakes Naval Hospital. Lauren was instrumental in the development of systems, digitization of patient records, and implementation of various processes at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago IL. Her dedication and enthusiasm inspired those around her.

Lauren was a graduate of Benet Academy in Lisle IL (1999) and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore MD (2002). She furthered her education at DePaul University (M.A.) and at the University of Chicago (PMP). An avid health enthusiast, Lauren enjoyed fitness programs and yoga. She was a standout age-group swimmer, having competed at State and Regional meets. In high school and college, Lauren was an accomplished competitor on her school swim teams and spent her summers as a coach for a local park district swim club.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Arbor Room of The Morton Arboretum’s Thornhill Education Center. In honor of Lauren's memory, the family requests that donations be considered to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Lauren's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
