John D. Kenney passed into eternal life on July 13, 2023 in his home in Wheaton, Illinois, his city of residence for most of his adult life. John was born to William and Lillian Kenney on April 18, 1957. He was a gifted student-athlete in his youth, winning the outstanding student-athlete award of the West Suburban Catholic Conference. He graduated from St. Michael Parish School, Benet Academy, and Northern Illinois University. He never met a sport he didn’t love or excel at, including his time at Northern Illinois University where he competed as a decathlete. He enjoyed playing golf throughout his life and was lovingly nicknamed Mr. Putter because you could often find him practicing his putting at a local golf course. He had a career passion for insurance and was self-employed as an insurance broker. He later started his own commercial messenger business. John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian, and his nephew David. He is survived by his five siblings William (Diana), Michael, Jill Keogh (John), Lynette Mobley, Mary Kay Eilers (Barney) and his nieces and nephews, Daniel Kenney, Laura Kenney, Kelly Green (Jody), Michael Keogh (Megan), Matthew Mobley, and Kyle Mobley (Lisa). Private family services and burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
